Meet Rogerio Romao, Full Stack Developer at Calashock Commerce

What do you do at Calashock Commerce?

I have a varied role. From designing custom front ends for clients using React, to meeting with clients at the initial stages to understand the project’s requirements, and advise on how we will build the project in terms of tech stack, APIs etc. And then I also spend the majority of my time implementing the backend integrations and middleware needed to connect all the pieces.

What is your favourite project that you have worked on here, and why?

The website for Horkans Petworld. Because it was my first big project, both with Calashock and with BigCommerce, and it was a very challenging experience, from which I learned a lot, and it was a very successful integration.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to an ecommerce merchant looking to grow their business?

I think I would say: do not neglect your technology stack – invest in current and established technologies that make it easier to work on data and establish connections to the outside world. This includes also having technical people on your staff, that know the systems well, and can be a point of contact between the company and the agency – in my experience, merchants that have these get their projects completed much faster and smoother.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am a huge music nerd, so I mostly listen to music, make music, or even DJing. Other than that, going out to meet some friends and socialise is the next big one. I also consume a lot of Youtube on a variety of topics.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

I would be the SnapGenie: snap my fingers and I grant myself a wish 🙂
